- Commissioned by Kineo
- Completed June 2014
- Type: Totara (Moodle), LMS
- Roll: Solution Architect, UX/UI Design
Replacing two existing systems and other internal learning resources to provide a centralised learning platform to support a growing global business.
Employee learning and development was encouraged and led through directed and self-directed styles and the platform enabled efficient online face to face management, full reporting capabilities and multi-language support.
Objectives
The key objectives for this project were to:
- Reduce the administration effort required to manually schedule workshops.
- Provide e-learning to all UK and international stores and UK and International support centres.
- Reframe what learning is all about.
- Create a system that is simple, engaging and easy to use.
- Support the long term goals of the business.
- Deliver that “Christmas morning feeling” on launch.
User Journeys
It was vital that the user journey was kept as simple and intuitive as possible, with clear signposts from the homepage to quickly direct users to relevant content.
During the configuration and design phases of the project, proof of concept wire-framing was used to map out a clear user journey and test content structure viability.
UX Segregation
All users need to have the same experience within the Virtual Academy and all users will visit the same homepage. From here, it was recommended to separate out content and courses for each language to simplify the management and administration as much as possible.
To achieve this separation, the homepage was created via a number of blocks which were configured to show for each language. Each block would then link to its own separate language category, course and/or content version.
